Spinifex Brewing Company are excited to announce the release of our third Military Beer the LIMITED EDITION Spec Ops Lager. This 4.2% ABV brew has been created to pay our respect to all past and serving members of the Special Air Service Regiment, Special Operations Engineer Regiment & Commando's operating under Special Operations Command (SOCOMD)

In an Australian first, the launch of the Spinifex Spec-Ops Lager is led and officially endorsed by the Special Air Service Historical Foundation, an organisation within the SAS “Family” that preserves the heritage of the SAS Regiment and its predecessors.

Australian Special Operations heritage began during World War II with the Long Range Desert Group in North Africa, and Australian Z Special Unit and Independent Commando Companies. The capability was revived in the 1950s with No.1 Commando Regiment.  No.1 SAS Company was raised at Campbell Barracks, Swanbourne, in 1957, and became the SAS Regiment in 1964.

Other units under Australia’s Special Operations Command are: No.2 Commando Regiment, Special Operations Engineer Regiment, Special Operations Logistics Squadron, ADF School of Special Operations, and the ADF Parachuting School.

Since 1965, Australian Special Operations Forces have served in major conflicts including Borneo, Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq, and supported peace enforcements and peacekeeping operations in Rwanda, Somalia, Cambodia, Bougainville, the South West Pacific and East Timor.

Special Operations Forces also stand ready for counter terrorism tasks in Australia and overseas.

The artwork featured on the can was designed by renowned Military Artist and friend of Spinifex, Ian Coate.

It's a great honour to announce this special project that has taken over six months of planning and preparation to bring to reality.  It's our tribute to the talented men and women of Australia's special forces and the incredible sacrifices made by them in the defence of our country.
